The Bayside Ocean Ski Challenge
The Finale at GADS 2023 is the 5 km Ocean Ski Challenge.
The course is from the Southern side of the Middle Brighton Pier, clockwise to a marker post off the Park Street beach, around buoys west of the Brighton Breakwater, returning past the Royal Brighton Yacht Club marina to the beach and the finish line near the beach in front of the Yacht Club. Refer to the course map below.
The course may be modified to suit wind and wave conditions.
Entry is for experienced paddlers by invitation. The event is limited to 50 entries.
Enter Ocean Ski Challenge
Paddlers should check in to the Race Marshal at Dendy Beach, in front of Bathing Box 63.
Then, assemble at the start position on the Southern side of the Middle Brighton Baths. Move to the start line as directed by the course marshals and the Brighton Lifesavers until directed to proceed to the start line. Keep clear of the swim course around the Pier and breakwater.
The race will be supervised by the Brighton Lifesaving Club
After passing the Finish Line, Paddlers can move their skis onto the beach.
There will be an award presentation at the stage in front of the Baths.
When returning from the beach after the presentations, keep well clear of the marina and be aware of any yacht movements.

- 11:15. Register and collect timing tag at Dendy Beach.
- 11:45. Assemble at the marshalling area. Keep clear of the swim course
- 11:50 Move to the Start Line as directed
- 11:5b0 Race start
- 12:30 Awards Presentation on the main stage (approx)
