Print the official receipt and present it or show personal ID at the registration tent at least 30 minutes prior to the event to collect your timing band and swim cap.
A gear bag and a colour-coded swim cap, which must be worn during the swim. An event T-shirt will be provided for the first 1,000 entrants
- A timing band, which must be worn on the ankle during the swim and returned to race officials at the Finish Gate. If you fail to return the timing band you will be charged $50
- A race numbers, marked on your arm or hand, which must be clearly visible
- Sunscreen and snack food items will be included in the gear bags

All swimmers in the 650m, 1400m and 2500m open water events must confirm when they register that they are physically capable of completing the event safely and in reasonable time. Swimmers are reminded that conditions in an open water swim can be more difficult and water temperatures can be cooler than in a pool environment. It is recommended that you wear a wetsuit for extra warmth.
Swimmers under 18 years must provide the consent of their parent or responsible adult when entering.
Swimmers will receive a colour-coded swim cap to designate their swim division, which will allow lifesavers to identify swimmers unable to complete the course safely in an appropriate time. Swim caps must be worn for the duration of the event.
Gear bags with clothing and personal items can be stored in the supervised change area in the Yacht Club yard. Valuable items such as watches and wallets should not be left in gear bags. The event organisers will not be responsible for any loss or theft of bags or personal items.

The start of the 1400m and 2.5km events are from a mid-point along the Middle Brighton Pier, next to the Baths and the registration area. The start will be a deep water start. Swimmers may move to the starting point from the adjacent landing on the Pier or from the beach. Move under the pier from the landing to the start line on the South side of the pier as directed.
The start of the 650m Intermediate Swim is inside the Yacht Club marina, which is accessed from the Middle Brighton Pier. The start will be a deep water start. Enter the water from the pontoon and move to the start position as directed by the Start Marshal.
Please allow at least 10 minutes to walk through the marina from the pier, to reach the start.
Race officials will marshal each swim division at the start, provide a race briefing and signal the start.
The final course layout and start wave information will be available at registration. It is your responsibility to confirm the course and your start wave. The start marshal will announce any variation to the race rules due to weather or safety issues.
Swimmers should initially swim around the breakwater and marina in a clockwise direction and then swim between the sets of buoys between the marina and the sand spit. Please study the map.
Swimmers in the 2.5km event will also swim a lap anti-clockwise around a ‘box’ of four additional buoys before swimming around the breakwater to the beach. After passing the marina and sand spit, swim directly to the beach and the finish gate in front of the yacht club.
Swim parallel to the marina, keeping all of the buoys on your left. Then, swim to the beach and the finish gate in front of the yacht club.
