The Bayside Junior Dash
The Kieser Great Bayside Swim includes the Bayside Junior Dash for eight to fourteen year old Junior swimmers. (Ages are as at January 23, 2027). Seven year old swimmers can enter the eight year old event at their parents discretion.
The Bayside Junior Dash is conducted by The Rotary Club of Brighton in association with the Brighton Lifesaving Club. All proceeds are used to support Rotary community charities.
The event is in semi-sheltered water alongside the Brighton Pier, behind the main breakwater.The 200m course (7/8 and 9 YO swimmers) is from the first landing on the pier to the beach. The 300m course (10 to 14 YO swimmers) starts from a landing inside the Yacht Club marina. Enter through the Marina gate at the end of the Pier. See the course map below.
The pier provides an excellent viewing location. Food stalls are located on the lawns adjoining the pier and Baths.
Water Safety
The event will be supervised by the Brighton Lifesaving Club. The event may be modified or canceled by the GBS Swim Safety Committee if water conditions are considered unsuitable on the day.
Swimmers should confirm with their swim school or club coach that they are capable of completing the course. Swimmers should be able to swim 1km in a swimming pool. Entrants require the consent of a parent or guardian.
Timetable
- Register and collect timing band by 9:15 am
- First swim group 200m 10:00 am
- First swim group 300m 10:15 am
- Medal presentations about 10:50 am

Change Facilities
Change tents are available in the car park alongside the Yacht Club. Juniors can also use the change rooms in the Brighton Baths. Parents – please supervise children using the change facilities
Entry
The entry fee is $25, paid on-line by visiting the registration website and providing credit card details. The website contains entry Terms and Conditions. Permission to enter must be provided by a parent or guardian at the time of registration.
The event is limited to 200 entries.
At registration, swimmers will receive an event T Shirt, and a colour-coded swim cap. Fruit, water and ice creams are available at the finish
Registrations close at Noon On January 22 or when we have reached 200 entries. We will only accept later registrations where this has been arranged in advance.
Swim Instructions
After registering, swimmers should assemble at the 200m start point on the pier (8 and 9 YO’s) or at the 300m start point inside the marina (10 to 14 YO’s) at the end of the pier. Marshals will direct swimmers to the low landings to enter the water in their age groups, according to their swim cap colour. The Lifesavers will assist swimmers to enter the water.
Results
Water, fruit and Bulla ice cream will be provided at the finish.
Swimmers will be electronically timed. Results and swim times will be available on the GBS website. Medals will be awarded for First, Second and Third places for each entry category. Swimmers can download and print a certificate with their results.
