The Swimland Junior Dash
The Kieser Great Australia Day Swim includes the Swimland Junior Dash for eight to twelve year old Junior swimmers. (Ages are as on Australia Day, 2024).
Seven year old swimmers may also enter the eight year old event at their parents discretion.
The Junior Dash is sponsored by Paul Sadler Swimland, and is conducted by The Rotary Club of Brighton in association with the Brighton Lifesaving Club.
The event is in semi-sheltered water alongside the Brighton Pier, behind the main breakwater. The 200m course (7/8 and 9 YO swimmers) is from the first landing on the pier to the beach. The 300m course (10,11 and 12 YO swimmers) starts from a landing inside the Yacht Club marina. Enter through the Marina gate at the end of the Pier. See the course map below.
The pier provides an excellent location for spectators. Food stalls will be provided on the lawns adjoining the pier and Baths.
“In our swim schools our kids learn and practice their skills in a very protected environment. We love the concept of the Swimland Junior Dash as it gives our eight to twelve year olds an opportunity to swim in a more challenging open water situation, with an appropriate level of safety and surveillance from the Brighton Life Saving Club. This is a great way for our kids to experience an open water swim and gain a skill for life”.
